On Wednesday 15 April 2015, Alan Gilbert delivered the prestigious Royal Philharmonic Society Annual Lecture at Milton Court Concert Hall in London to an audience of music industry leaders. His lecture, entitled “Orchestras in the 21st Century; a new paradigm” challenges orchestras, their conductors, artistic directors, administrators, and musicians, to take a step back and to re-evaluate what it is that an orchestra can and should be in the modern era.

Maestro Gilbert was in London preparing for the New York Philharmonic’s European Tour, which begins in Dublin on 16th April, and then takes in London (17th, 18th, 19th April), Amsterdam (21st, 22nd April), Luxembourg (23rd April), Paris (25th, 26th April), Frankfurt (28th April), and Cologne (30th April, 1st May).
